Are you growing through life’s challenges?March 18, 2015 / byMaria Garcia / Categories : Blog, Uncategorized
We all face challenges. It’s just part of everyday life. But, how we respond to them is what makes us different from others. Some people rise from challenges while others’ go downhill. Many people blame their circumstances of their struggles and challenges. These people believe an event is equivalent to its outcome; however, for the truly resilient person, adversity is where they thrive.
What allows these people to succeed? How do they keep moving on the journey of life? They realize it is not what has happened to them in their lives, but the way in which they respond to the events in their life.
The way in which a person decides to respond to certain challenges is what will shape his or her feelings, actions and results. It all lies within ourselves to be successful in life or not. It’s not what happens to us, but what are we going to do about it?
Adversity is something that we all face at some point in our life. These difficult and trying times however are not what define us, but the way in which we respond to them is what reveals our true character. Anyone can be defeated when life does not go as planned, but the resilient people can overcome such hardships.
Just like everything else in life, we need to continuously grow our knowledge, skills, and practice. We must learn the tools and skills to help us take care and help our own self. In order for us to learn we must learn how to not resist the learning process. The real question here is “Are you going through it or growing through it?”
We need to be open to learn how to know ourselves and learn about our patterns of behaviors in order to change for better outcomes. What are some patterns that might be creating negative outcomes in your life? What’s holding you back from reflecting on those patterns to make a positive change?
The first step into changing anything is realizing there is a problem. If we are in denial about what’s going on around us, we will never wake up! Only when we realize there is a problem, we seek the solution or help in order to fix that opportunity. If we neglect the challenge it will only get worst in fact denial is a very dangerous stage.
Let’s face it life could be so unfair sometimes, but regardless we need to shift our focus on working the problem instead of ignoring it.
There is never a good time or perfect time, the time is now, time to get a reality check with yourself and make the decision that you will acknowledge your patterns. We need to deal with them one at a time and make better life choices to live a better life. A life where you are in control of every outcome.
Let me tell you a secret: You got what it takes, you are worth it. Help yourself and seek help if necessary but it must start by you wanting to help yourself.
What will determine your success? Here are some words of wisdom to think about:
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.” Charles R. Swindoll
