Congratulations on your new endeavor!September 10, 2014 / byMaria Garcia / Categories : Blog
Nowadays, not much stays the same for too long. Looking at the world through social media, and the news you see that something is always happening in different parts of the world. People are inventing new things, coming up with new products, new software, new concepts, and more.
Is your business transforming at the same pace? Are you transforming yourself in ways that make you more valuable as person, a family member or a business person? When we talk about transformation, many things come to mind. For some, getting their body in better physical shape means transformation. For others, it could be learning something new, whether it’s a new language or skill. It could also be conquering a fear, phobia or trying something new and exciting that will enable them to live a life of excitement filled with adrenaline. For some, it’s as simple as becoming a better person, a better husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father or just simply a better human being.
[color-box]One of the fundamental parts in our own development, physically or intellectually, is the ability to remain teachable and open. When we mistakenly think we know it all and feel satisfied with who we are, we are closing the doors of possibilities.[/color-box]
Being teachable while remaining open means accepting ourselves for who we are, but knowing there is room for improvement. When we see ourselves as knowing we could be better, we are opening up for new opportunities. Life is a road with no dead end, a road less traveled in my opinion. You know it is a long road, and that you will never see the end of it because is has no end. Just like our mind, it is unlimited. We as humans have made many new discoveries, but the mind and our brain remains a mystery. There is still so much to learn about our brains in the years to come.
This mindset of being open and teachable puts you and me on a quest of finding out what else is out there. What am I missing if I stop walking that road? What opportunities await me? You have to keep going. Learn and discover new things, new people and new ways of doing things.
Sometimes we get stuck feeling all there is in life is what you already have. I have talked to many people that think when they get to a certain age; life is basically over, why bother? I have lived all I had to live, and even at a relatively young age some think that they have no idea why they came to this life. They feel like it’s been a pain in the neck because of their past experience.
It’s easier said than done right? Right. No one said it is going to be easy, but the fact of the matter is that we only have one life to live and we only get one shot at it. If we have wasted our life in a non productive way, or even worse with destructive behavior that has given us a bitterness taste of life, I am here to tell you that you have the power to change. You have the power to change your life outcomes for the better no matter how bad it is. No matter how bitter it has been in the past, now is the time to change. Now is the time to take control of your destiny, of your one life you have to live.
Start by defining what you don’t like about your life. What would you like to change in order to get the results that you want in life? What behaviors and patterns do you need to modify in order to obtain your desired outcomes? Who are the people you are associating with? Are they up lifters? Are they helping you become a better you? Or are they some how a hindrance on your development? Are you aware of your weaknesses? This is very important.
Start by doing a self-evaluation. You might need a good friend to help you achieve this in a objective way. Next, make a short and long term plan. Keep track of your progress and always remember that you only have one life to live.
If you make a mistake along the way, don’t even call it a mistake call it an opportunity to learn from. Most importantly, don’t ever give up because the worst war is the one we never fight. Go ahead, start traveling the road less traveled and enjoy the journey.
Good luck on your new endeavor.
